Obsessed might be a better word... I'm constantly reading about and testing new seo methods; it's what I love to do and it's what I'm really good at. In fact, I've been doing it full time since 1997. To tell you the truth though, even though I've blogged about SEO for years, I've never really divulged my most valuable secrets on ranking web sites well at the search engines. Why? Because it's self destructive. In the world of SEO, a strange and unique thing usually happens. Whenever someone discovers a new technique to rank well, they tend to tell people about it... Before long, everyone's using that technique to rank sites...and once everyone starts using it, one of two things happens: It stops being effective simply because everyone is doing it (if 1,000 sites about dog training use the same technique to get listed for the phrase "dog training" they can't all rank in the top ten) Google see's that people are spamming them in that specific way so they tweak their algorithm so the technique no longer works. So it doesn't make sense to tell people about a new seo trick that you've discovered....and for that reason I always keep my mouth shut when it comes to my juiciest SEO secrets.
